Olga’s workshop will cover the following topics: short film directing as a complicated, but interesting and exciting process; peculiarities of working with the creative team; how to summarize, in a concise and laconic way, a meaningful concept that captivates the viewer and sticks in mind; a metanarrative blend of visual content with the heterogeneous style of short films. She will share her professional experience and talk about visual, stylistic, audio and rhythmic techniques of creating the plot, simplification and generalization: what to leave and what to dare to cut out in order to get the desired result. 

Speaker:

Olga Havrylova is a ceramic artist, illustrator, director and production artist based in Kyiv. As an art director, she was leading such projects as Victor_robot (release date in 2020) and a French project Another language, another vision. As a production designer, she participated in making an animated film Chudove Chudovysko (Wonderful Monster). She debuted as an author and director in The World Inside Out. Now she is engaged into adaptation of the children’s book The War that changed Rondo (supported by Ukrainian Cultural Foundation) based on eponymous book by Romana Romanyshyn and Andriy Lesiv. Since 2016, she has been working with an animation studio Chervoniy Sobaka.
