Сo-production experience of animation around the globe and participation of Ukraine in it: BreakThru Films studio cases. BreakThru is known for groundbreaking, artistic and commercially successful animation projects. Their first major production, Peter and the Wolf, won the Oscar for best animated short. BreakThru's most recent film, Loving Vincent, is the world’s first fully painted feature film, and was a success both with film festivals and in terms of worldwide box office. This $5.5m film grossed $42m from its theatrical release, making it one of the most successful animations of all time for an adult audience. The film picked up 23 Audience Awards at film festivals, including the coveted Annecy Cristal at the world’s biggest animation festival, and was nominated as best feature animation in the world’s most prestigious award events including The Oscars and the Golden Globes.

Speakers:

Sean Bobbitt graduated from the University of Virginia with a BA in International Relations, and three weeks later ended up in Poland with the Peace Corps. Sean enjoyed his time in Poland so much that he kept pushing back his return to the US, and looking for excuses to extend his stay. During his time in Poland, Sean has started work on a doctorate, worked as a journalist and a translator, and finally started up with friends one of the leading multiplex cinema chains in Poland – Silver Screen - where he held the roles of CFO and then CEO. After merging with Multikino in 2010, Sean was approached by Oscar-winning producer Hugh Welchman to be a co-producer on his next project, Magic Piano to the music of Chopin. The cooperation during this project led Hugh to invite Sean to join Breakthru as CEO and Producer. The first film they produced as partners was “Loving Vincent”, which went on to win the European Film Award for Best Animated Film and was nominated for an Oscar, Golden Globe and BAFTA award.

Olga Zhurzhenko is a professional film producer who has been working in the film industry since 2010. She is the Ukrainian co-producer of the film The Peasants. She is also working on the production of O. Zabuzhko's book Field Studies of Ukrainian Sex. Olga worked on two feature films – Gamer by Oleg Sentsov and The Trumpeter by Anatoly Mateshko. Olga is a member of The Producers Guild of America, European and Ukrainian film academies.

Kateryna and Tetiana Ocheredko are project artists working with graphics, painting, animation and mosaic. They are members of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine. They participated in over 50 international painting and graphics exhibitions, competitions and plein air sessions in Ukraine, Europe, Australia, Cyprus and China; received the Silver Key Honor Award from the Cyprus Museum of Modern Arts. They worked on the animated film Loving Vincent.
