In 2018, LINOLEUM festival will be held in Kyiv for the fifth time, on September 6-9. The venue is IZONE creative space.
Modernity puts challenges before us every day. For someone, this is a reason for despair, and for someone else, this means new opportunities. New technologies are invented, sports records set, the way to Mars broken. A new challenge provokes us to review former borders and to look for new horizons. Something which seemed incredible yesterday is real today. Humans are now faced with a choice: to passively use someone else’s discoveries or to try making their own. Visual art is a crucial instrument used by animators to create worlds yet unknown. That is why the theme of this year’s festival is Fading Borders.
Call for entries to competition programs starts on March 11 and will last until May 27.
Apart from national and international competitions, organizers announce an open call for commissioned films competition. This category includes advertising, educational films, and music films. Works from both international and Ukrainian authors are accepted.
Traditionally, LINOLEUM program will consist of screenings featuring experimental animation and video art, children’s animation, theme selections, retrospectives of Ukrainian animation, selections from international festival programs, and educational program.
The prize fund of the festival amounts to 5,000 USD, which is going to be divided between three competitions. Applications are open for everyone whose works do not exceed 30 minutes (including final credits), were made in 2017-2018 and with at least 40 percent produced in the animation technique. You can submit your films via filmfreeway.
