The motif of struggle unites most films in this selection. From Nikita Diakur's new ironic-optimistic film with a message to keep going despite difficulties and failures to a documentary story about a family of workers who carried the yoke of hard work in conditions of economic oppression throughout their lives. The Ukrainian film "The Analogy of Space" can be read in a new way in the context of war: the background violence in the GTA game resonates with the tension and exhaustion in our cities. On the contrary, another Ukrainian video work, "MOVA OBORONY" is an inspiring depiction of an archetypal defender who relentlessly reproduces a cycle of combat movements to a militant rhythmic soundtrack. The last film of the programme, "Rasga Mortalha", is a dark, surreal fantasy about the bloodshed in Brazilian history. It seems to be far from our realities. Still, it reflects about the country's fate in the conditions of constant conflicts, ultimately accepting the traumatic experience as part of its identity: "Don't cry, 'cause life is a hard fight. To live is to fight." The struggle is the only choice we, Ukrainian citizens, have now.

Attempting a backflip is not safe. You can break your neck, or land on your head, or land badly on your wrists. None of that is nice, so my avatar does the trick. It practices on a 6-core processor with the help of Machine Learning. The processor is not the newest but still calculates 6 jumps per iteration. One iteration takes one minute, this is 360 jumps in an hour and 8.640 jumps in a day. I wouldn’t be able to jump so much myself.

This music video is a computer-generated animation made in an open-source program Golly. The program is used as a simulation of cell growth. The background is made with animated objects in the scanner. The story follows the lyrics of the song. First, the growth seems unlimited, then a peak comes, we break and vanish and again and again, the game of life. Behind this circle, an everlasting nostalgia is present.

Due to long-term observation of the NPCs (Non-Playable Characters) the player witnesses certain documentary events that take place in different parts of the in-game world. However, these events are permeated by common cross-cutting themes: excessive cruelty and human indifference. To some extent the constant movement (which also accompanies the player-observer throughout the in-game space) is the only salvation from arbitrariness on the streets but not always.

Rasga Mortalha comes from the legend of the owl "Suindara" - much told in the folklore of the North and Northeast of Brazil - to address the socio-political urgencies of the country. It is believed that the appearance of its white figure, followed by the wild cry - which resembles the sound of a cloth being torn in half - carries with it the sign of death.
