The program features films by such directors as Priit Pärn, Rein Raamat, Hanki Ernsti, Janno Põldma and Avo Paistik. In their films, the artists reflected the modernity of the late twentieth century and imagined what the future would look like in the era of totalitarian regimes. During the Soviet era, Estonia had a state animation studio as part of the Tallinnfilm film studio. Baltic authors were always given a little more freedom than the rest of us, which the Estonians used skillfully; they knew how to get around censorship. For example, they could write one scripts and shoot according to others. The films often contained hidden anti-Soviet content. Ukraine and Estonia, among other things, share a common past of being under Soviet occupation. And animation, like any art, reflects and comprehends the events of reality, so these films will be able to recognize the experiences that Ukrainians went through at that time.

The screening was prepared by an animator from Dnipro, Mykyta Lyskov. It is supported by Tallinnfilm (Estonia).
