A boy named Tuk and his dog Zhuk have a vegetable garden, but their harvest is in danger from Pig and Fox who are looking for a quick profit. Pig and Fox are obvious metaphors for Soviet political anti-heroes. The first animated sound film, started by Viacheslav Levandovskyi, a pioneer of Ukrainian animation, in 1928 was finished by his students in 1935.

Animals make an agreement to live and work in peace. The Fox joines this improvised League of Nations and, using a bagpipe as a decoy to distract attention, she violates the agreement. One of the film's directors, Ipolyt Lazarchuk, wiil become the father of Ukrainian animation in the post-war era.
