  • Everything will be okay in the end. If it's not okay, it's not the end
    Dasha Podoltseva, Alexey Shmurak

    Ukraine | 12:41 | 2025

The project constructs an imagined future, drawing on the soundscapes of the 1980s. It is presented as a surreal, sarcastic kaleidoscope, with the videos genre-wise structured like commercials. The sources of the sound piece are English-language advertisements from the 1980s from the Tyne and Wear Archives in Newcastle, United Kingdom, as well as excerpts from radio programs recorded at Lviv Radio, Lviv, Ukraine, during the same period. The authors reflect on the fears and hopes of the present — shaped by war, burnout, guilt, and the hope for a miracle.

  • When Flowers Dream of Us
    Robert Minassian

    Lebanon | 05:21 | 2025

After the explosion, only silence remains. The land is cracked, the roots exposed, the air heavy with dust. Red flowers once covered this place. Now only ash and the memory of their color. A voice speaks in ʿAsfouri, the lost language of birds, calling out to the soil, to what might still listen. There are no people left, only the echo of his words scattered through the wind. When we are gone, will the flowers grow again? And if they do… will they remember us enough to dream of us?

Spirit Chasers (2026) is an experimental film that treats the American West not as a fixed landscape, but as a living transmission. By generating image from sound, the film imagines landscape as something transmitted, remembered, and continually re-formed rather than simply seen. The film begins with an original audiovisual composition whose oscillator trace is screen-captured and used as the underlying structure for the image.

These drawings were not created with animation in mind, instead each piece was intended to capture movement within a still frame. In 2024, with the help of the Quickdraw Animation Society, the natural patterns and progressive movements in these drawings were put into sequence and animated.
