DOK Leipzig brings with it a program of short films that address the constant human struggle between life and death, power and survival in a variety of ways. The five films tell of very different perspectives of people in unjust states or war situations, in both private and public settings. Loss, oppression and death are the constant companions, but also the question of how to deal with them and live on.
Each of the films shows aspects of the contradiction inherent in conflict: how it can be destructive on the one hand, but also lead to change and something new. Perhaps peace simply means a break from our constant battles.
