LINOLEUM Animation Festival has announced the winners of its 12th edition

LINOLEUM, Ukraine's largest festival of contemporary animation and media art, has announced the winners of its competition programmes.

The winners were selected by an international jury in three categories: International, Commissioned Film and Ukrainian competition. For the first time, the jury of the Ukrainian Film Critics Association participated in the festival this year.

In the Commissioned Film Competition, the jury selected the following from among 29 works:

In the international competition among 32 films from different countries, the jury awarded:

  • Special mention from Jakub Spevák — Mother’s Child by Naomi Noir (Netherlands)
  • Special mention from Balázs Turai — LARVAL by Alice Bloomfield (United Kingdom)
  • Special mention from Anastasiya Faluleieva — DETLEV by Ferdinand Ehrhardt (Germany) реж. Фердінанд Ергардт (Німеччина)
  • Best Film in the International Competition — GOD IS SHY by Jocelyn Charles (France)
  • Award from the jury of the Ukrainian Film Critics Association — Voiceless by Samuel Patthey (Switzerland)

The jury of the Ukrainian Competition consisted of Amos Geva, Yuliia Kovalenko, and Vessela Dancheva, who awarded the following prizes:

  • Special Mention — COO-RAGE by Alina Milkina (Ukraine, Netherlands)
  • Best Film in the Ukrainian Competition — LIFE IN BETWEEN by Iryna Lytvynova (Ukraine)
  • Award from the jury of the Ukrainian Film Critics Association — Little Red Riding Hood by Sofiia Komarova.

Iryna Lytvynova also received special prizes for her film – Deco Fun S graphics tablet from Novella, the official distributor of the XP Pen brand in Ukraine and a certificate for 30,000 UAH from Karandash studio.

All awarded Ukrainian films received prizes from the festival’s partners — a book certificate from ArtHuss Publishing, access to the Creative Practice and Projector libraries, and treats from the festival’s alcohol partner Tullamore D.E.W.

In total, the festival was attended by 2,300 visitors, featuring 35 animation screenings for adults and children and 32 educational events — from large networking sessions to workshops and masterclasses with brands and leading industry professionals. Among them was Amos Geva, who conducted the T-Port Workshop for Ukrainian animators with the support of the Goethe-Institut Ukraine.

LINOLEUM 2025 was held with the support of the Ukrainian State Film Agency, Goethe-Institut Ukraine, British Council Ukraine, and the Polish Institute in Kyiv.
