LINOLEUM announced the winners of its competition programmes

The festival winners were selected by an international jury across three categories: the International, Commissioned and Ukrainian Competitions. Additional awards were presented by the festival’s partners and the jury of the Ukrainian Film Critics Union.

In the Commissioned Competition, the jury selected the best works from among 24 entries:

— Special Mention by Simon Breeveld — Emory – Dirt, dir. Julia Fernandez
— Special Mention by Lucie Grannec — Traffic Lights – Flea feat. Thom Yorke, dir. Nespy 5euro
— Special Mention by Illia Dutsyk — Phoenix, dir. Mary Yanko, Marlene Ciampossin
— Jury Grand Prize — YBN RSN, dir. Natalia Skriabina

In the International Competition, the jury selected the following winners from among 32 films from around the world:

— Special Mention by Arthur Venayre — Gently, dir. Jamaica Kindlova (Czech Republic)
— Special Mention by Pola Lotta Włodarczyk — The Daughters of the Late Colonel, dir. Elizabeth Hobbs (Germany, United Kingdom)
— Special Mention by Pola Lotta Włodarczyk — Ivar, dir. Markus Tangre (Norway)
— Jury Grand Prize — So He Grabbed the Knife, dir. Sam Kuwa (Japan)
— Special Mention by the Ukrainian Film Critics Union Jury — Trading Cards, dir. Radheya Jegatheva (Australia, United Kingdom)
— Ukrainian Film Critics Union Jury Award — Atomic Tour, dir. Bruno Collet (France)

The Ukrainian Competition jury consisted of distribution strategist Alexandra Hroncova, director Nadja Andrasev, and a co-founder of the and action creative agency, Vitalii Nebelskyi. They awarded:

— Jury Special Mention — Don’t be naughty, dir. Artem Kuznetsov
— Jury Grand Prize — Talk to Me, dir. Yuliia Tabenska
— Ukrainian Film Critics Union Jury Award —Don’t be naughty, dir. Artem Kuznetsov

For her film, Yuliia Tabenska also received special prizes: an XPPen Artist 12 Pen (3rd Gen) tablet from LINOLEUM festival partner Lifecom, the official XPPen distributor in Ukraine, as well as an UAH 80,000 certificate from product IT company appflame.

Another special prize in the Ukrainian Competition was provided by electronics retailer Foxtrot. A UAH 30,000 certificate for purchasing electronics was awarded to Subway Under the Chicken Coop, directed by Hanna Beskrovna.

Ukrainian films recognised by the jury also received prizes from festival partners, including book certificates from ArtHuss publishing house. In addition, every participant in the New Faces debut programme will receive a licence from MOHO Animation.

This year, LINOLEUM held its AI Animation Competition for the first time, in partnership with HOLYWATER TECH. Out of 33 submissions, seven works were selected for the competition programme, demonstrating the wide variety of approaches to using artificial intelligence in animation. The main prize was a USD 2,000 cash award, presented to To My Postpartum Depression, directed by Iryna Sosimovych.

By decision of the jury, the winners of all competitions received one-year licences from Toon Boom Animation. All competition participants also received special gifts from EVA BEAUTY.

Overall, the festival presented 50 animation screenings for adults and children and 28 educational and industry events, ranging from large-scale networking events to workshops and masterclasses with brands and leading industry professionals.
