The issues highlighted in the presentation/lecture are in line with the main agenda of the book "Cybernetics in the Human Sciences and the in the USSR" (Moscow: Center for Contemporary Art "Garage", 2019). Why did not cybernetics develop in Soviet Union? What were the roles that philosophy and cinema were playing in either promoting or restricting its development with regard to the official anathema? What were the human sciences in which cybernetics was nevertheless used in the USSR? For which applied purposes? What did Soviet “cybernetic art” look like, who created it and why it became forgotten later on? Why the links were lost between Soviet and post-Soviet cyber-artists working with digital technologies? What is the phenomenon of the "other aesthetics" and what is its role in the history of academic aesthetics?
