A historical journey into the emergence and development of the feminist trend in contemporary media art. We will talk about the strategies of creating Ukrainian media art in the 90’s, the notion of “movie concept” and features of Ukrainian media art related to feminism. We will also consider how media art interacts with feminist approaches to society, gender, and technology. This presentation will use examples of creator-owned films, video and media art.

Oksana Chepelyk is an artist, director, scientist and curator, leading researcher of the Laboratory of Modern Technologies of the Institute of Contemporary Art at Ukrainian National Academy of Arts, PhD. Author of the book The Interaction of Architectural Spaces, Contemporary Art and Modern Technologies.
