The secret of a good character movement lay in a clear understanding of what the character does, why he does it, and in the clear transmission of this idea to the audience. Mocap technology allows you to digitize the movements of the face and body, but, like the brush in the hands of an artist, it is only a tool. The real skill is to connect the movements with the character's thoughts, feelings and emotions, because if there were no emotions or goals behind it all, then, at best, you are going to see just a nice motion of a moving object.
